US only wants war

By José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

The United States (US), the so-called champion of democracy, has used its veto power in the United Nations’ (UN) Security Council for the third time to stop the demand for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, and the immediate unconditional release of hostages. The US was the only nation to vote against the Security Council’s resolution that was also supported by the UN’s Secretary General.

It is one thing for US beauty contestants to say that they want peace on Earth. It is another thing for the US government to do everything in its power to engage the world perpetual wars. If US citizens want peace, and our government wants war, where is the democracy? That is why the world, on multiple Gallop Polls, has consistently named the US as the biggest threat for peace.

The US has had Puerto Rico as its colony for the past 125 years. The US has ignored 42 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans.

Two thirds of Puerto Ricans today live away from our national territory. Half of those who have stayed live in poverty. That is ethnic cleansing too, and a crime against humanity!

The evidence therefore shows that the US is instead the champion of plutocracy. It is corroborated by the fact that 38 million US citizens live in poverty today, while 8 of the 10 richest men in the world are Americans. Moreover, only 40% of US citizens are satisfied with our government.

On the other hand, the People’s Republic of China, a nation that the US says is not a democracy, has already eradicated her poverty since 2020, despite having 4 times the US’ population. Do you know that 90% of Chinese citizens are satisfied with their government?

While the whole world wants peace, the US holds the world hostage to never ending wars that may lead to World War III.

US Major General Butler in his book WAR IS A RACKET, and US President Eisenhower in his farewell speech, about the Military Industrial Complex warned us about US oligarchs using war for profit. Unfortunately, we did not listen!

We will get no peace for Christmas from the US!
