Why doesn’t Trump listen to the people?

By José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

With 66% of the United States (US) citizens supporting the massive national protesting to eliminate institutionalized racism in their country, why isn’t the US government (USG) listening to “We the People”?

We the People are getting a wake-up call that the USG has always only represented the 1% of its citizens. That 1% are the only ones who have become even richer during the pandemic, while the 99% of us have become poorer or have died. Trump talks about dominating the protesters, and that is what the police is doing. Therefore, the notion that “We the People” are the sovereign is foreign to him. And, what is also equally as disturbing is that the so-called other “branches of government” have not stopped him!

To further illustrate this arrogance, you may not know that the USG has never complied with the United Nations’ (UN) Charter that prohibits colonialism for the past 75 years! The USG has ignored 38 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. http://webtv.un.org/watch/5th-meeting-committee-of-24-special-committee-on-decolonization/6051725003001/

The question for the 66% of us who support the elimination of US institutionalized racism is, will we allow the USG to continue with business as usual? If we are not, we need to decolonize our thinking to fight the permanent government. We do, because the 1% has never wanted LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL! http://www.todosunidosdescolonizarpr.blogspot.com/

Trump doesn’t care about us!

Jose M Lopez Ismael
