What Lin-Manuel doesn’t understand about PR?

by José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

NBC News visited Puerto Rico to do a story about Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hometown of Vega Alta. His family spoke to NBC about the devastation that Vega Alta and Puerto Rico has experienced, according to them, in recent times. NBC mentioned only once that Puerto Rico is a colony of the United States Government (USG), as if that were less important to the other things it emphasized. Like what?

Like making reference to the Puerto Rico Government (PRG). A real government represents its people. Does the PRG represent Puerto Ricans? Therefore, the PRG represents exclusively the interest of the USG.

That is what Lin-Manuel, and his family do not understand about Puerto Rico. The USG has had total control of Puerto Rico for the past 120 years. The fact that Puerto Ricans are abandoning their national territory in huge numbers is because, that serves the interest of the USG.

Therefore, people like Lin-Manuel Miranda, José Feliciano, Rita Moreno, Jennifer López, Mark Anthony, Benicio del Toro and Carmelo Anthony could do all the benefits they wish to raise money for Puerto Ricans, but Puerto Rico will never get out of, what NBC erroneously called, “Puerto Rico’s recession”.

Puerto Rico would have to not be a colony to talk about her economy being in a recession.  Thus, Puerto Rico’s real problem is that the USG has been brutally exploiting her since 1898. Click here for more information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mytk800mUn0&t=16s

Everyone who genuinely wishes to help Puerto Ricans will need to learn our real history. That will be the glue that will unite us and give us the direction that we so desperately need.

Puerto Ricans have never needed the many plebiscites that we have had to determine what status we want. What Puerto Ricans need is for the USG to comply with the desire of the international community. Thus far, the USG has violated international law since the creation of the United Nations in 1945.

Consequently, we have no other choice but to engage in permanent resistance to force the USG to comply with the UN’s Charter that prohibits colonialism, and the 37 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0

Get involved, because those who commit crimes against humanity with impunity, don’t believe in LIBERTY AND IN JUSTICE FOR ALL! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1697349163904877/

We need to let the cat out of the bag.
