Capitalism is how 3% of the United States (US) population today maintains the 97% of the citizens, who are employees, at its mercy. To be more graphic, 40 million Americans live in poverty, and 201 million more live from paycheck to paycheck, while 9 of the 10 richest men in the world are US citizens.
Just like this video ended with London and Amsterdam going to war, capitalism is the farthest thing to democracy. Capitalism is imperialism!
That is why the US has consistently refused to comply with 42 United Nations’ resolutions demanding the immediate return of Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. And in the meantime, 6 million Puerto Ricans have abandoned their national territory (gentrification), and half of the 3 million people in Puerto Rico live in poverty. This year’s UN Puerto Rico decolonization hearing will be on Monday, June 16, 2025.
In order to enjoy real democracy, capitalism must be replaced by a system whereby the workers themselves could democratically operate the workplace.
Democracy means democratizing the workplace.
