The criminal can’t be in charge

By José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

The United States government (USG) militarily invaded Puerto Rico to make her its colony 124 years ago. How could the one who committed this crime against humanity be in charge of the process to indemnify the victim? People living under colonialism are the ones who have the inalienable right to self-determination and independence. The USG, because it is a criminal, and like Luis argues, will never accept Puerto Rico as the 51st state of the Union. But who cares, if we are in charge of our own decolonization!

What the 9 million Boricuas world-wide should do, instead participation in this circus, is engage in permanent in resistance to force the USG to immediately return, like 40 United Nations resolutions say, Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. Once that happens, the Boricuas will decide the rest.

And should a majority of Boricuas want statehood, we would request it, and see if the USG is agreeable. If not, we will take it from there.

The Boricuas must be in charge of our own decolonization.
