Fighting for Puerto Rico

By José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

The status quo in Puerto Rico was designed by the United States (US) government (USG) to exactly get the results that we are seeing today. That is precisely what it means for Puerto Rico to have been a US colony for the past 123 years!

After the USG militarily invaded Puerto Rico (note that it was not a referendum or any democratic process), the USG carefully drafted the Treaty of Paris of 1898. This treaty, which is still operative today, says that the rights of the Puerto Rican people will be determined by the USG. How much colonial can you get?

Yes, like was mentioned in this CBSN, “Fighting for Paradise”, the USG wants to get Puerto Ricans out of our national territory. It wants to repopulate Puerto Rico with ‘whites”. Then, miraculously, Puerto Rico would become the 51st state of the Union. Press the following link to watch that video:

Puerto Rico is naturally a true paradise. Some people say, she is the enchanted island. What has made her the “Nightmare Island” for Puerto Ricans has been US colonialism for more than a century.

It is irrelevant to talk about Puerto Ricans being divided about the various options for Puerto Rico’s political status. Therefore, there is absolutely no need to consult Puerto Ricans in order to get the USG de decolonize Puerto Rico. The USG will never accept any democratic process, because it aims to keep Puerto Rico as its colony forever. So, Puerto Ricans must push the USG out against its will!

International law is clear that colonialism is prohibited, because it constitutes a crime against humanity. Therefore, the only path for Puerto Rico is her independence. And, once Puerto Rico is free, she could then do whatever she decides!

Thus, I strongly suggest that the “fighting for paradise” must be for the 9 million Puerto Ricans worldwide to permanently engage in resistance to force the USG to:

  1. Comply with the United Nations’ (UN) Charter that prohibits colonialism for the past 76 year.
  2. Comply with 40 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans.

None of the above facts that are germane to the discussion of this video were mentioned in this video. I encourage everyone to investigate them, and fight for our paradise now, tomorrow, and forever!

Are we ready to rumble?
