Boricuas must control the process

By José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

The United States (US) House of Representatives is currently working on yet another bill to decolonize Puerto Rico. Click on the following link for more: https://youtu.be/6mN4viCiAJ4

The problem with that is that the one who has committed the crime is the one that is in total control of the process. The Boricuas are the ones who have the inalienable right to our self-determination and independence. Therefore, that house bill is totally unnecessary!

Puerto Rico is a colony. The US government (USG) has been knowingly committing a crime against humanity for the past 77 years by refusing to comply with the United Nations’ (UN) Charter that prohibits colonialism.

Instead of this bill, which is meant to maintain the status quo, the USG should do what it has refused to do in 40 UN resolutions. The UN has repeatedly asked the USG to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0

The Puerto Ricans would then have our own constitutional convention, the one that US Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez said would be the best way to resolve our political status.

It is insane for the USG to be in control of Puerto Rico decolonization, because it wants to maintain Puerto Rico colonized forever. Why do you think the USG favors independence for Taiwan, but has had Puerto Rico as its colony for the past 124 years? https://todosunidosdescolonizarpr.blogspot.com/

This plebiscite is one more trick to continue PR colonialism.

Jose M Lopez Ismael
