Traore understands perfectly well why there is so much poverty in a world with so much wealth. The United States (US), for example, has 40 million Americans living in poverty, and 201 million more living from paycheck to paycheck, while 9 of the 10 richest men in the world are Americans too!
The US, unabashedly, accuses the People’s Republic of China of being its biggest threat. Why? If anything, China should be America’s biggest friend, since she eradicated poverty in 2020, despite having 4 times the US’ population. As the so-called «champion of democracy», the US should be happy that over 90% of Chinese are satisfied with their government. But that is the point!
The US is not the champion of democracy, by virtue of the fact that only 34% of Americans are satisfied with their government.
Moreover, the US has consistently refused to comply with 42 United Nations’ resolutions demanding the immediate return of Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. 6 million Puerto Ricans have abandoned their national territory in the meantime (gentrification), and half of the 3 million people in Puerto Rico live in poverty! The UN’s Puerto Rico decolonization hearing this year will be on Monday, June 16, 2025.
The world must rebel against imperialism too.
