Where is Bloom in US schools?

By José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

The educational psychologist Benjamin Bloom in the 1950’s identified 6 levels of thinking that teachers should develop in their students to create complete thinkers. Each level of thinking is progressively more challenging than the one before it. Complete thinkers are imperative, if the world is to advance through generations.

The 1% that controls the United States Government (USG), however, is not interested in having the 99% of the United States (US) citizens becoming complete thinkers. The 1% would rather keep them thinking at the first three levels, knowledge, comprehension and application, so that they could be more easily controlled. The 1%’s greatest fear is the education of the 99%, because it knows that a revolution would occur.

Thus, for a democracy to function correctly, the citizenry must develop higher order thinking skills that Bloom identified as analysis, synthesis and evaluation. Are US schools teaching that? Not if the 1% could help it!

Why do you think the US government is closing down so many schools in Puerto Rico, with the excuse that Puerto Rico owes a huge debt that she must repay?  The evidence that Puerto Ricans are not complete thinkers is that many of them believe that we do have a debt. Others believe that we owe part of it, and should have the debt audited to determine the correct amount.

Complete thinkers – the ones who have not allowed themselves to be indoctrinated by US colonialism-, however, would know that a colony is incapable of incurring a debt, because she has no right that the empire has to respect.

Complete thinkers would also not have participated in colonial elections in Puerto Rico as high as 85%. They would instead engage in permanent resistance to force the USG to comply with the United Nations’ (UN) Charter that prohibits colonialism since 1945, and the 38 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. http://webtv.un.org/watch/5th-meeting-committee-of-24-special-committee-on-decolonization/6051725003001/

In the case of the US 99%, you have General Smedley Butler’s book, “War is a Racket” https://ratical.org/ratville/CAH/warisaracket.html, numerous books by Noam Chomsky, David Vines’ book “United States of War” https://youtu.be/b8VpxkTUYWE and several surveys that show that the world considers the US as the biggest threat to world peace https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2017/08/07/polls-us-greatest-threat-to-peace-world-today.html. And yet, US citizens seem incapable of understanding that their own government is acting against their own interests. In essence, the US 1% is committing treason against the US!

That is also proof that US citizens are also not operating on all of Bloom’s 6 levels of his taxonomy of cognitive development!

It, therefore, is incumbent on us to teach ourselves to become complete thinkers. The sooner we do, the sooner the revolution could begin. Let’s get started, because those who want only low level thinkers so that they could exploit us forever, don’t believe in LIBERTY AND IN JUSTICE FOR ALL. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1697349163904877/

We must be smart enough to save ourselves.
