The US has been a national security state, since the end of World War II. With 800 military bases around the world, and today unconditionally supporting the genocide against the indigenous people of Palestine against international law, the world regards the US as the greatest threat to peace.
US citizens are even abused by our own government. 38 million Americans live today in poverty, and 60% live from paycheck to paycheck. However, 9 of the 10 richest men in the world are Americans. Thus, the US is an empire, and not “the champion of democracy”!
