Pedro Pierluisi was sworn in on Saturday, January 2, 2021 as the so-called, “governor of Puerto Rico.” Click on the following link to read the article: https://www.npr.org/2021/01/02/952862800/puerto-rico-swears-in-a-new-governor-who-faces-multiple-crises
What most Puerto Ricans don’t understand is that we have no real government. The “government of Puerto Rico” is the United States (US) government (USG).
When Pierluisi was sworn in yesterday, he was swearing allegiance to the USG, and not to the Puerto Rican people. Puerto Rico has been a US colony for the past 122 years. Puerto Ricans have absolutely no governmental representation in the current status quo. And that is why more Puerto Ricans live away from our national territory!
The solution for Puerto Ricans isn’t participating in Puerto Rico elections. Our solution is in terminating being a colony. How?
We must understand that the USG has never complied with the United Nations’ (UN) Charter that prohibits colonialism since 1945.
We must understand that the USG has ignored 39 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. http://webtv.un.org/watch/5th-meeting-committee-of-24-special-committee-on-decolonization/6051725003001/
We must understand that the UN has begun its 4th International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism (2021 -2030).
And, we must understand that the world regards the USG as the biggest threat to world peace. We cannot expect the USG will do anything good for us. Therefore, it is up to us!
We must permanently boycott the elections to let the world know that Puerto Rico is not a democracy, but, quite the opposite, a US colony. We must engage in permanent resistance to force the USG to comply with international law.
We must stop swearing allegiance to the colonizer, and start swearing allegiance to ourselves. Let’s begin the New Year on the right foot for a change! www.TodosUnidosDescolonizarPR.blogspot.com
