Should Puerto Ricans want equality?

By José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

Puerto Ricans should not be seeking equality with United States citizens. Puerto Ricans should be seeking to be all that we could be. What is keeping us from doing so?

The so-called “Governor of Puerto Rico” Pedro Pierluisi argued that, if Puerto Ricans are citizens of the greatest democracy in the world, why don’t Puerto Ricans have equal rights too? Click on the following link to hear his argument: https://youtu.be/7WxDUKinTQw

Here is the true story that he did not reveal:

That greatest democracy that Pierluisi spoke of militarily invaded Puerto Rico to make her a United States (US) colony 123 years ago.

That greatest democracy that Pierluisi spoke of has never complied with the United Nations’ (UN) Charter that prohibits colonialism for the past 76 years. That means that the US government (USG) is committing a crime against humanity. And, it is no wonder that the world considers the USG as the biggest threat to peace.

That greatest democracy that Pierluisi spoke of has ignored, with impunity, 40 UN resolutions asking her to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0

Puerto Ricans could truly live in paradise, had we not been continually exploited by the USG since 1898. Therefore, instead of half of the Puerto Ricans in our national territory wanting to become the 51 state of the Union, the 9 million Puerto Ricans worldwide should be engaged in permanent resistance to force the USG to comply with international law.

Isn’t it ironic that we must force the so-called, “greatest democracy in the world” to comply with international law? http://www.todosunidosdescolonizarpr.blogspot.com/
