NY Times: few Boricuas want independence

by José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

In 1972, the New York Times wrote an article to highlight that few Puerto Ricans want Puerto Rico independence. But, what does that have to do with anything? Click on the following link to read the article: https://www.nytimes.com/1972/05/21/archives/there-are-few-independentistas-in-puerto-rico-but-independentistas.html

This is an example of how corporate news help the United States Government (USG) to cover up its crime against humanity. The media do not exist to give you the facts, so that you could make informed decisions. It exist to control your actions in favor of the 1% who truly control the USG.

Corporate media want you to believe that the independence of Puerto Rico has to do with how many Puerto Ricans want it. However, the electoral process has nothing to do with it!

What is important with Puerto Rico decolonization is the fact that colonialism is a crime against humanity as expressed by the international community. This is why the 1945 United Nations’ (UN) Charter prohibits colonialism. Moreover, that is why the UN’s Decolonization Committee has issued 37 UN resolutions thus far asking the USG to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0

Why don’t the media tell you that? They don’t, because they would have to tell you then that the USG:

  1. Provoked the American – Spanish War of 1898
  2. Classified Puerto Ricans as an inferior race in 1898
  3. Classified Puerto Rico as an unincorporated territory to deny Puerto Ricans its Constitution, Click here for more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRHGdhRBG1M&t=38s
  4. Forced its citizenship on Puerto Ricans to divert their loyalty to the USG in 1917
  5. Lied to the UN in 1953 to get Puerto Rico off the UN’s list of colonies
  6. And the list goes on…

Therefore, it is incumbent that all people who believe in real democracy seek the truth outside of the corporate media. Then, you will be able to know what you must do.

We must engage in permanent resistance to force the USG to comply with the will of the international community, because those who purposefully hide the truth to control our actions don’t believe in LIBERTY AND IN JUSTICE FOR ALL! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1697349163904877/
