Money to finance war, slavery and empire

By José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

I remember learning in school that money was invented to replace the awkwardness of the barter system. We were never taught that money was invented to finance wars, slavery, and build empires.

Professor David McNally’s new book, “BLOOD AND MONEY: War, Slavery, Finance, and Empire” explains that. He is the guest in the second part of Professor Richard Wolff’s Economic Update. Click on the following link to watch it: https://youtu.be/Pm_P8e72LyM?list=RDCMUCK-6FjMu9OI8i0Fo6bkW0VA

Puerto Rico has been a United States (US) colony for the past 123 years. The US government (USG) has violated the United Nations’ Charter (UN) that prohibits colonialism to do that for the past 76 years. The USG has also ignored 40 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0

Both professors agree that we are currently at the best possible moment to challenge US capitalism, and create a system that would offer us real democracy.

To do that, we will have to learn hidden information on our own, and engage in permanent resistance to establish real liberty and justice for all. https://todosunidosdescolonizarpr.blogspot.com/

Help build a true democracy.
