40 years ago, United States (US) oligarchs moved industrialization out of the US so that they could take advantage of cheap labor. Today, while 9 of the 10 richest men in the world are Americans, 40 million US citizens live in poverty, and 201 million more live from paycheck to paycheck. The US, however, tells Americans that China is the cause of their misery.
127 years ago, the US invaded Puerto Rico to make it a US colony. 6 million Puerto Ricans have abandoned their national territory (gentrification), and half of the 3 million people in Puerto Rico live in poverty too!
How could the US claim to be the champion of democracy, when it has consistently refused to comply with 42 United Nations resolutions demanding the immediate return of Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans.
Human rights require a real democracy.
