¿Es 25 julio día feriado boricua? / Is July 25th a Boricua holiday?

No debería serlo. Al contrario, debiera ser un día que vive en la infamia.
La nación del presidente que dijo esas palabras el día después de que Japón atacó a Peal Harbor el 7 de diciembre de 1941, “Una fecha que vivirá en la infamia”, invadió militarmente a Puerto Rico para hacerla su colonia el 25 de julio de 1898. ¿Por qué los puertorriqueños celebran esa fecha? Para eso, tendremos que explicar lo que paso el 30 de octubre de 1950.
En esa fecha, el Partido Nacionalista de Puerto Rico se levantó en contra del imperio estadounidense por haber colonizado a su patria por 52 años. Aunque la insurrección no fue exitosa, logró sin embargo llamar la atención mundial.
El Gobierno de Estados Unidos (GEU) decidió inventarse un gobierno de embuste, y llamarlo el “Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico” para esconder su colonia. Una supuesta “Constitución de Puerto Rico” se redactó y se aprobó el 25 de julio de 1952. Eso es lo que, supuestamente, los boricuas celebran el 25 de julio. La pregunta que nadie hace es, ¿Cómo se puede tener una Constitución sin primero haber una independencia nacional? ¡No se puede!
El GEU engañosamente le pidió a la Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU) que removiera a Puerto Rico de su lista de colonias en el 1953. El GEU alegó que Puerto Rico había adquirido su gobierno propio en 1952. La ONU creyó el cuento, y la sacó de su lista. La ONU luego se da cuenta que el GEU le mintió.
La ONU celebra anualmente una vista para la descolonización de Puerto Rico. La vista este año programada para el lunes, 22 de junio de 2020, fue pospuesta por la pandemia del coronavirus. Si eso no hubiera sucedido, la ONU tendría un total de 39 resoluciones pidiéndole al GEU que devuelva inmediatamente la soberanía de Puerto Rico a los puertorriqueños. http://webtv.un.org/watch/5th-meeting-committee-of-24-special-committee-on-decolonization/6051725003001/
Después de haber mantenido a Puerto Rico como su colonia a pesar de ser prohibido por ley internacional bajo la misma Carta de la ONU del 1945, uno podría decir con seguridad que el GEU nunca descolonizará a Puerto Rico por su cuenta. The nation, whose president spoke these words after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, “A date that will live in infamy”, militarily invaded Puerto Rico to make her its colony on July 25th, 1898. Why do Puerto Ricans celebrate July 25? For that, we must explain what happened on October 30, 1950.
On that date, the Nationalist Puerto Rican Party rebelled against the Empire of the United States (US) for having colonized Puerto Rico for 52 years. Although, the insurrection was unsuccessful, it did attract world attention.
The US government (USG) decided to invent a fake government, and called it, the “Commonwealth of Puerto Rico” to camouflage its colony. A so called, Puerto Rico Constitution” was drafted and approved on July 25, 1952. And that is what, supposedly, Puerto Ricans celebrate on July 25. The question that no one asks is, “How could you have a Constitution, without having first achieved national independence? You can’t!
The USG deceptively asked the United Nations (UN) to remove Puerto Rico from its list of colonies in 1953. The USG alleged that Puerto Rico had attained self-government in 1952. The UN bought it, and removed her from its list. The UN later realized that the USG had lied.
The UN holds an annual Puerto Rico decolonization hearing. This year’s hearing, scheduled for Monday, June 22, 2020, was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. After 121 years of maintaining Puerto Rico as its colony despite international law prohibiting it since 1945 via the UN Charter, one could safely say that the USG will never decolonize Puerto Rico on its own. Therefore, the people will have to engage in permanent resistance to achieve our independence.
