The United States (US) government talks a lot about liberty, freedom and democracy, but in reality it ignores the 99% of its citizens. The debate over the minimum wage is a good example of that. In real terms, today’s minimum wage is far less than when minimum wage started in the US. It should be at least 3 times what it is today just to have kept it at the starting level. Minimum wage is poverty wage. That is not freedom, liberty and justice for all. We need to deprogram our minds to realize that slavery did not end with the US Civil War. Replace US plutocracy for a real democracy.
