Who killed the American Dream?

By José M. López Sierra

From 1945 to 1973, United States (US) workers enjoyed democracy. From 1973 to the present, however, US workers have been under an oligarchic authoritarianism. What happened?

US oligarchs were furious about having to pay for President Franklyn D. Roosevelt’s New Deal, and plotted to get rid of him. Major General Smedley Butler, who wrote the book WAR IS A RACKET, alerted the US government of it, and the coup never happened.

President Ronald Reagan led the charge of killing US democracy by insisting that government was not the solution, but the problem. Therefore, US oligarchs began to run the US government until today. And, that is why today the world is at the brink of World War III.

Americans are now living a nightmare, as a result of US plutocracy. While 9 of the 10 richest men in the world are US citizens, 38 million Americans live in poverty, and 60% live from paycheck to paycheck.

US imperialism is what has consistently refused to comply with 42 United Nations’ resolutions demanding that the US immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. https://webtv.un.org/en/asset/k1w/k1wb1xdn6i https://webtv.un.org/en/asset/k15/k154ku9q8x

In a real democracy, the government is a problem for oligarchs, because it prohibits them from extracting all of the wealth of 99% of its citizens. Therefore, a strong government, like the People’s Republic of China, is crucial for the existence of a real democracy. Conversely, in a plutocracy, oligarchs must be the strong ones.

Proof of that is the fact that China has already eradicated her poverty, despite having 4 times the US’ population. No wonder 90% of Chinese are satisfied with their government, while only 33% of US citizens are satisfied with ours!

The two major US political parties are puppets of the oligarchs. Voting for them will give us more of the American Nightmare.

US oligarchs are the problem!
