How America became neoliberal?

By José M. López Sierra

Americans enjoyed the “American Dream” from 1945 to 1970. After that, the dream has progressively become the nightmare that it is today, where 38 million United States (US) citizens live in poverty, and 60% live from paycheck to paycheck. The new American Dream is only for the 9 of the 10 richest men in the world who are US citizens. Please click on this link to understand how we got here: https://youtu.be/oYxnrNkYx-U

The Great Depression of 1933 caused by capitalism was addressed by President Roosevelt redistributing the wealth to the citizens. That was the US period of democracy! The oligarchs, however, forced to pay for that, decided to try to coup the president.

The 2008 Recession, however, was addressed in the opposite manner, by redistributing the wealth to the oligarchs, and leaving the 99% of Americans to fend for ourselves.

Neoliberalism is another word for US imperialism. That explains why the US is sponsoring the genocide against the indigenous people of Palestine, against international law, and has constantly refused to comply with 42 United Nations’ resolutions demanding that it immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans.

The US is not “the champion of democracy”. The world considers the US as the biggest threat to peace.

The US is the champion against democracy!
