Colonialism is the PR Fiscal Board

By José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico’s problem is not the so-called “Financial Oversight and Management Board” as this video would like you to believe. Please click on the following link to watch it: https://youtu.be/ipyxV-YZo5w

Puerto Rico’s problem is 125 years of United States (US) colonialism. The US, not only is the one that owes Puerto Rico money, but also is committing a crime against humanity.

Puerto Rico has never had a government that represents Puerto Ricans since 1898. The so-called “Puerto Rico Government” is the US’ government in Puerto Rico.

How do we know that?

  1. Two thirds of the Puerto Ricans today live away from our national territory.
  2. Half of the Puerto Ricans who have refused to abandon our homeland live in poverty.
  3. The US has ignored 41 United Nations (UN) resolutions asking her to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0
  4. Instead of simply complying with international law, the US instead encourages Puerto Ricans to engage in complicated and confusing plebiscites to keep us colonized forever.
  5. Do you know, because the US has no free press, that this month the UN will once again hold its annual Puerto Rico decolonization hearing, and will issue yet another resolution asking for the same thing. It is important to note that theses resolutions are not asking for plebiscites. Once the US returns our sovereignty, we would then decide for ourselves our future.

Even US citizens have no democracy either. 38 million Americans today live in poverty, while 8 of the 10 richest men in the world are US citizens.

A government for US oligarchs.
