Boricuas need no debate

By José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

Many Boricuas believe, due to 125 years of brainwashing, that we must democratically decide what political status we want. Please click on the following link for more: https://youtu.be/Fnve3RRT6ck

Totally absent from the discussion in the video is the fact that the United States (US) militarily invaded Puerto Rico in 1898 to make her a colony. Where was the democracy there? But suddenly today, the US talks about democracy and about a so-called “Rules Based Order”.

How many Boricuas know that next month the United Nations (UN) will, once again, celebrate its annual Puerto Rico decolonization hearing? The UN must do so, because the US has consistently ignored, up to now, 41 UN resolutions asking her to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. By the US having refused to do so, she is committing a crime against humanity. And yet today, in a complete about face, the US says that she is committed to defending Ukraine’s and Taiwan’s sovereignties. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0

The reason why the US doesn’t practice what she preaches is because, it’s about US colonialism today, tomorrow and forever!

If the US were to have complied with the resolutions, Puerto Ricans would have had already our sovereignty returned. We would have, then, already decided what political status we want for ourselves.

Instead of plebiscites, Boricuas must engage in permanent resistance to force the US to comply with international law.

It is the US’ fault that our decolonization is stuck!
