Nowhere in this news is the real issue, with its appropriate solution.
The US government (USG) militarily invaded Puerto Rico to make her its colony in 1898. Since then, the USG has refused to comply with the United Nations’ (UN) Charter of 1945 that prohibits colonialism for being a crime against humanity. Moreover, the USG has ignored with impunity 40 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0
The Treaty of Paris of 1898, which still operates today, states that the rights of Puerto Ricans shall be determined by the USG. That is to say that Puerto Ricans have no rights that the USG has to respect.
Today, 124 years later, more Puerto Ricans live away from our national territory than in. Almost half of the Puerto Ricans in Puerto Rico live in poverty. Isn’t that what colonies are for?
The real solution is for the almost 9 million Boricuas worldwide to engage in permanent resistance to force the USG to comply with international law.
Boricuas must push the US to obey the law!
