The ultimate failed state

By José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

InfoAlDesnudo

Noam Chomsky described in his book FAILED STATES what they are. They are governments that don’t provide protections for their citizens, don’t guarantee their rights at home and abroad, and don’t provide them with functioning democratic institutions.

The United States (US) government (USG) is a failed states by its own citizens’ admission. Right now, only 13% of US citizens are satisfied with our government. The USG has become a failed state, because it is also an outlaw state. The USG has utter contempt for international law!

China, on the other hand, respects international law. China has lifted 850 million Chinese out of extreme poverty. That is almost 3 times the US population. And in stark contrast to the US, 95.5% of China’s citizens are satisfied with their government. Yet, the USG claims that China is not democratic.

The USG says it supports the independence of Hong Kong and Taiwan. It does, because that would benefit the 1% of its citizens, and hopefully help maintain its hegemony. If the USG really cared about a nation’s right to self-determination, why has it done the opposite with Puerto Rico for the past 76 years?

The USG militarily invaded Puerto Rico 123 years ago to make her its colony. Isn’t that exactly what the USG is accusing China of doing with Hong Kong and Taiwan?

Puerto Rico is still today a US colony in violation of the United Nations’ (UN) Charter that prohibits colonialism since 1945. The USG has repeatedly shown its utter contempt for international law by ignoring, thus far, 40 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0

If the USG could be called a democracy, then it is undeniably a failed one. The people in a democracy have the right to force our government to represent us all. If we can’t do that, then we have also failed! https://todosunidosdescolonizarpr.blogspot.com/

Can we lift ourselves out of ultimate failure?

Jose M Lopez Ismael
