The United States (US) military knows exactly what the January 6, 2021 insurrection means, and who were responsible for it.
The US military knows that the domestic threats are more serious than foreign ones. The insurrection at the Capitol was unsuccessful, because the US military did not support it. But, to keep the insurrection from ever happening again, there must be consequences for the insurrectionists. If not, then that was just practice!
