Why the toppling of statues?

The toppling of statutes in the United States (US) means that many citizens are becoming aware that our country was founded on the genocide of indigenous people, despite the institutionalized state brainwashing in its educational system. The people are not proud of their history, and wish to not glorify it. Trump wants to put anyone who topples a statue in jail for 10 years. That is, because Trump only represents the 1% of US citizens who have always benefited from the status quo!
This 1% club has been behind maintaining Puerto Rico as a US colony for the past 121 year! The US government (USG) has ignored 38 United Nations’ (UN) resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. Only “We the People” could change the course of our country. The 1% will not help us change the status quo, because they are the only ones making huge profits out of the crisis that we are trying to survive through.
