What was Hurricane Maria like in PR?

by José M. López Sierra – Puerto Rico

Pace University put out a recent documentary about the experiences Puerto Ricans had with Hurricane Maria. Click on the following link to watch that documentary: https://youtu.be/KR7s8H9najw

There is a lot of misinformation in this documentary, because many Puerto Ricans are ignorant of their own history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRHGdhRBG1M&t=30s

Many Puerto Ricans believe that we have to decide what political status we want for Puerto Rico. They do, because that is what the United States government has put into their heads. The US says that that is democracy! Was it democracy when the US government militarily invaded Puerto Rico in 1898 to make her its colony?

The United States government is the one that has to do something. It has to comply with the United Nations’ Charter and 36 of its resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. After that happens, Puerto Ricans will have to decide what kind of government we want for ourselves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0

We need unite as we did in order to survive Hurricane Maria. We need to organize ourselves to engage in permanent resistance to force the US government to comply with the will of the international community. We must, because those who have exploited us for 120 years, don’t believe in LIBERTY AND IN JUSTICE FOR ALL! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1697349163904877/
