No. Aquí está la razón.
El Comité de Descolonización (C-24) de la Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU) acaba de aprobar otra resolución por consenso pidiéndole al gobierno de Estados Unidos que le entregue la soberanía de Puerto Rico a los puertorriqueños. ¿Por qué continúa el C-24 haciendo lo mismo que no ha logrado la descolonización de Puerto Rico?
Yo descubrí este reciente informe que el C-24 le envió a la Asamblea General. ¡Lo interesante para mi es que es una mentira! Este informe habla de lo que el C-24 debería estar haciendo. En los 5 años que yo he estado activamente involucrado en la descolonización de Puerto Rico, nunca he visto el C-24 hacer esto. Mi contacto con los residentes de Nueva York has sido que la inmensa mayoría desconocen sobre su vista anual sobre la descolonización de Puerto Rico. Por eso fue que 3 años atrás creamos la Marcha Oscar – Mandela en NYC para sacar del closet estas vistas.
Además, yo tengo un hermano y 2 hermanas retirados que han vivido toda su vida en Nueva York y desconocían de estas vistas hasta que yo hice mi primera ponencia en junio del 2012. ¡Al contrario, yo tengo evidencia que el C-24 hace todo lo contrario de la regla 71/121!
Uno pensaría que dicho reglamento lógicamente significaría que las vistas anuales sobre la descolonización de Puerto Rico estarían transmitidas en vivo por radio y televisión desde el 1960. ¡No lo han hecho!
Cuando tratamos de que la ONU lo hiciera el año pasado nos ignoró. Ese atrevimiento me costó que el C-24 me sacó de la lista de peticionarios. El C-24 alegó que yo no solicité mi turno en el 2016. ¡Aquí está mi evidencia que el C-24 mintió!
La ONU cambio el procedimiento para solicitar el pase de prensa este año para nosotros poder transmitir la vista de nuevo. No importa cuántas veces solicitamos para poder hacer dicha transmisión, la ONU nos la negó.
El C-24 violó aun otro de su reglamento cuando me asignó la ponencia 52 de 60 peticionario. Su regla ha sido desde el 2012 que el orden de los peticionarios será el orden en que se solicite su participación en la vista. Así fue que en el 2012, yo fui el primer peticionario. Este año, solicité en el 1 de marzo de 2017. ¿Cómo es posible que 51 peticionarios solicitaron antes que yo?
Puerto Rico nunca se descolonizará a través de la ONU. Los puertorriqueños, sin embargo, deberíamos usar el hecho de que hay 36 resoluciones para presionar al gobierno de Estados Unidos a descolonizarnos.
Necesitaremos crear un tsunami de gente para empujar al gobierno de Estados Unidos a cumplir con la ley internacional. Tenemos por primera vez un comité en Nueva York para organizar la 5ta Marcha Oscar – Mandela en NYC. Miembros joven de este comité trabajará para que universitarios en Nueva York, Nueva Jersey y Connecticut marchen con nosotros. Muchos de ellos están conscientes de que un Puerto Rico independiente ofrecería mejores oportunidades de empleos, y que sería lo correcto de hacer. Nuestra meta es tener 10 millones de puertorriqueños marchando desde Hunter College hasta la ONU en el mismo día de la vista. El gobierno de Estados Unidos no tendría otra alternativa que no sea la de cumplir con las resoluciones.
Mucho trabajo falta de hacer para que los puertorriqueños estén consciente de su verdadera historia, y para difundir lo que la ONU no está haciendo. Tenemos que admitir que si no lo hacemos nosotros, seguiremos siendo colonia para siempre. ¡Lo seguiremos siendo, porque los que usan la ONU para mantenernos colonizados no creen en la JUSTICIA PARA TODOS!
No. Here is why.
The Decolonization Committee (C-24) of the United Nation (UN) just approved another resolution by consensus asking once again that the United States government give Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. Why does the C-24 continue to do the same things that has not gotten Puerto Rico decolonized?
I discovered this recent report that the C-24 sent the General Assembly. The interesting thing to me is that it is a lie! This report is about what the C-24 should be doing. In the 5 years that I have been actively involved in Puerto Rico decolonization, I have not seen the C-24 do that! My contact with New Yorkers is that the vast majority of them are oblivious to the annual hearing on Puerto Rico decolonization. That is why we created three years ago the Oscar – Mandela Marches in NYC to get it out of the closet!
Furthermore, I have 3 Puerto Rican siblings who are retired and have lived all of their lives in New York City and have never heard of the annual UN hearing to discuss Puerto Rico’s colonial relationship with the United States until I spoke there in June 2012. On the contrary, I have evidence to prove that the C-24 goes out of its way to do the opposite of 71/121!
You would think that this rule would logically mean that the United Nations would be broadcasting live on radio and television the annual hearing on Puerto Rico decolonization since 1960. It has not!
When we tried last year to get the C-24 and the UN to do it, they ignored us. Here is the UN’s response letter trying to brush us off: We wrote almost 200 letters all the UN ambassadors and not one indicated support for the live broadcasting of the Puerto Rico decolonization hearing.

But, the cost for that was that the C-24 took me off the petitioners list. It claimed that I did not request to do be a petitioner for June 2016. The following is my evidence that the C-24 lied!
The UN changed the procedure to apply for the press passes to broadcast the hearing this year. And, no matter how many times we applied, the UN denied it.
The C-24 violated yet another one of its regulations by assigning me petitioner number 52 out a total of 60. The C-24’s rule since 2012 has been that the order of the petitioners shall be the order in which they request to participate in the hearing. That’s how I became the first petitioner in 2012. See the following petitioners’ lists. I applied for this year’s on March 1, 2017. How could 51 petitioners have requested their participation before me?
Puerto Rico will never be decolonized through the UN. But Puerto Ricans should use that there are 36 resolutions to force the US government to decolonize us. How?
We will need to create a tsunami of people to push the US government into compliance. We have started for the first time a New York City (NYC) Committee to organize our 5th Oscar – Mandela March in NYC. The young committee members will work to get college students in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut to march with us. Many of them see the importance of an independent Puerto Rico for better employment opportunities after they graduate, and because it is the right thing to do. Our goal is to get 10 million Puerto Ricans to march from Hunter College to the UN on the same day of the hearing. US government would then have no other choice, but to comply!
A lot of work is needed to make Puerto Ricans aware of their real history, and to disseminate the information that the UN is supposed to be doing! We must understand that if we don’t do it, it we will always remain a colony. We will, because those who use the UN to continue keeping us colonized don’t believe in JUSTICE FOR ALL!
